Janka is considered a rising star from the Swiss Alpine skiing team. He competed in his first international FIS race in December 2001. Four years later, he reached the podium in all four disciplines. He has two World Cup victories, both in giant slalom and super combined. He won the bronze medal in downhill and gold in the giant slalom at the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere, France.
