BIOGRAPHY
Lindsey Vonn is one of the few world-class, four-event ski racers. Besides winning the World Cup overall and downhill titles in 2008, she's the only American to win at Italy's Trofeo Topolino (for skiers 11-14) and earn Junior Worlds medals and U.S. titles - all of it while a teenager. Six weeks after she turned 20, Kildow produced her first World Cup victory and in 2007 earned her first major championships medals, silver in downhill and super G at Worlds. Next up Olympic gold in 2010.
UPDATE
The 2008 season was one for the record books in more ways than one. Not only did become the first American woman to win the overall World Cup title since Tamara McKinney in 1983, she also won five downhill races to become the most successful downhiller (male or female) in U.S. history, surpassing Daron Rahlves and hero Picabo Street to own the honor with 10 wins. The string of victories secured her the World Cup downhill title on Feb. 22, a month before the end of the season and she joined Street as the only other American to win the DH title. "I've always dreamed of winning the globe and I've always dreamed of winning an Olympic gold. It's those dreams that keep me motivated to ski," Vonn said. "So much of what I was able to do is because of the people who have helped me this season, my coaches, the U.S. Ski Team staff, my sponsors and teammates. She also gives major credit to husband Thomas, a U.S. Ski Team alum and 2002 Olympian, who joined Vonn on the road for nearly the entire World Cup season. To clinch the title in Bormio, she produced her best super G and slalom finishes of the season and was also in the running for the World Cup super combined title until the final event. The results earned Vonn a direct trip from Bormio to NYC for appearances on CNN, ESPN and Fox News, countless newspaper interviews and a personal call from the Governor of Utah. Following a U.S. slalom title, the Vonns few back to Europe to participate in a charity ski event (where she met pop star James Blunt), train on the 2009 World Championships venue and test skis with all eyes fixed on medaling in 2010. It didn't take long for her to begin setting records again when she won the opening slalom of the season in Levi, Finland to become the only American women to have won a World Cup in four disciplines (only giant slalom remains). She then marked her fifth downhill win in Lake Louise in as many years at the opening speed week.
FIRST TRACKS
Growing up in the Twin Cities area (in Burnsville), Vonn was on skis at 2 at Buck Hill before moving into Erich Sailer's renowned program at Buck Hill. She commuted to Vail for a couple of years before the Kildows (her maiden name) moved to Vail in the late Nineties. En route to the World Cup, she excelled at every level - Junior Olympics, Trofeo Topolino, Whistler Cup (kids 11-14), Junior Worlds, NorAms and Europa Cup.

I AM
A happy-go-lucky person who loves skiing...She and 2002 Olympian Thomas Vonn were married Sept. 29...She's an older sister to triplets - two brothers and a sister - and another sister; Vonn also has publicly thanked them for what they endured when the family moved to Vail, largely to further her racing career...Mom and Dad are lawyers...Olympe, the cow I earned for winning the December 2005 World Cup DH in Val d'Isere, delivered a calf Nov. 26, 2006 - which I named Sunny. The cows reside in Kirchberg, Austria - the U.S. women's European home base...A workout fanatic...Proud owner of a new home outside of Park City...Hoping to get Thomas to take a vacation soon.
