Big Air in the Big Apple: Red Bull Snowscrapers This Thursday!

There is precedence for this type of event, as the Icer Air 2005 saw skiers and boarders launching themselves off the hills of San Francisco.  But, this Thursday, will be a truly special and surreal scene, as the world’s best snowboarders will be flying through the Manhattan skyline.  It’s the Red Bull Snowscrapers featuring the trifecta of snowboarding royalty: Travis Rice, Shaun White, and Terje Haakonsen.  In all, 17 riders will be pursuing a massive 100k purse in the East River Park, starting at 6pm sharp.  Props to Red Bull for the specially constructed ramp and for choosing the jam session format for the contest.  Jam sessions place more emphasis on creativity and pushing the limits, as one fall does not make or break the riders’ chances for victory.  And with the world’s best snowboarders getting inspired by the New York City scene and crowd, there will definitely be impressive feats on aerial display.

Just to complete the NYC vibe of the entire event, hometown legends Anthrax will play immediately following the awards ceremony.

The entire event will be streamed live on Go211.com.
