Lindsey Vonn clipped a gate on her second run and was eliminated at the World Cup slalom in Ofterschwang, Germany.  Celebration on hold, as now Vonn will have to wait until next week’s World Cup finals in Are, Sweden, to secure her second consecutive overall title.  "I’m really looking forward to Are. In the past it’s been a good hill for me," Vonn said. "Hopefully I’ll have a solid downhill performance and have enough points to get the overall title then, so it’s not weighing too heavily on my mind."

For now, the pressue is still off as Vonn holds a commanding points lead.  Vonn led after the first run on Saturday and look assured a grand party to celebrate her second consecutive overall world title, something no other American woman has achieved.  But, an extra chapter has been added to this story.  Sandrine Aubert earned her first World Cup victory, and Vonn’s ski buddy Maria Riesch clinched the slalom title.  "I wanted this title and now I got it," said Riesch. "It’s a pity for Lindsey but she can console herself with so many other titles this winter, she can leave me the slalom."
