The annual FIS Calendar Conference 2009 starts today in Cavtat-Dubrovnik, Croatia, where officials from around the globe will convene to discuss scheduling for next season, among other things (like technical rules).

Word is that this year, the meetings are set near the water, and last year, the conference took place in Cape Town. We’re currently figuring out ways to get invited to next year’s meetings…

The current meeting schedule includes the first-ever FIS World Cup Organizers’ Seminar; as well as a briefing with the Candidates for the 2014 and 2015 FIS World Ski Championships. Over 200 representatives from various organizing committees have signed up. However an insider told us that although all sports should be represented by respective athletes at the meetings, no one was invited to represent women’s ski jumping. Surely, that’s one item that will be discussed.
