Sugar Bowl to get new Quad Chairlift

Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is adding a new quad chairlift at the top of Mt. Judah which will be ready for the upcoming season.  It will be able to deliver about 1200 people per hour to terrain that was previously only accessible through hiking.  The construction phase will last from late July to October.

“Operating as a mid-sized resort in Tahoe, we look to maximize our skiable acreage so that skiers and riders are free to explore more of the mountain,” said Sugar Bowl’s President and CEO Rob Kautz. “And doing so will help to maintain our economic viability in the industry and on Donner Summit.”

This is one of the more ecological undertakings as no trees will be felled, no new roads, no grading and towers will be heli’d in on hand dug footings.

Sugar Bowl is a great resort and this is a windfall for skiers there.  In keeping with the spirit of taking care of Sugar Bowl skiers – the new chairlift will not impact lift tickets.
