Ski City USA

Huntington Beach, in Southern California, has branded itself Surf City USA after a legal battle over the title with Santa Cruz, in Northern California. Huntington Beach is an iconic beach community built around a long pier, great surf, a huge beach, and loads of sun. But what makes a community a surf community, let alone the very best the country has to offer? That you prefer Southern California or Northern California, or Hawaii, or Virginia Beach only underscores the fact that local and regional pride combined with a passion for the sport serve as bedrock for the belief that your local surfing spot is unmatched anywhere else, and that’s how it should be.

The same is certainly true for skiing and snowboarding. Everyone has their favorite run, at their favorite resort, in their favorite town. And the skiing/boarding community is passionate about what terrain is best, who has the best snow, best nightlife, best food, and the list goes on. So let the debate begin, where is Ski City USA? What are the parameters by which we might crown a city or town Ski City USA? It’s a worthy debate with many deserving towns and cities.
