Blaine County is very used to having gossip, as it is home to the exclusive and celebrity-friendly Sun Valley Ski Resort.  As we reported yesterday, it is also the county where the captured soldier Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl is from.  Today, word has surfaced that residents of Blaine County actually knew about Bergdahl’s capture several days ago, but kept it to themselves.  According to Sheriff Walt Femling, there are “many high profile people that live within our community.  When you see a movie star going down the road, they don’t run up and ask for their autograph. They respect people’s privacy, and that’s exactly what happened in this case.”

In addition, U.S. military officials were not going to announce his disappearance either, until they learned that the BBC was going to break the story.  Pfc. Bergdahl was captured on June 30th by the Taliban on June 30 in southeastern Afghanistan.  The Ski Channel joins all of Pfc. Bergdahl’s family and friends in wishing for his safe return soon.
