Women’s Ski Jumpers to Hold Fundraiser at Deer Valley August 19

Women’s Ski Jumping USA is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for the U.S. Women’s Ski Jumping Team on August 19 in Deer Valley, Utah. The U.S. Ski Team has cut back on funding, and the ski jumpers’ recent loss of their 2010 Olympic bid has also made training more difficult.

Called the Fight for Flight, the event will not just help to raise funds, but will also grow awareness of the lady jumpers’ exclusion from the Winter Olympic Games, and how the issue has stirred a global fight for gender equality.

Tickets run $200 per person, and the event will be held at the spectacular, 20,000 square-foot Huntsman Mountain Estate, set into Deer Valley’s lush backcountry. Proceeds will directly benefit the athletes and help keep them airborne.

If that’s not enough, attendees will also be able to meet the U.S. Women’s Team jumpers themselves, as well as enjoy live music—potentially from former U.S. Ski Team downhiller Bryon Friedman. We’ll keep you updated with further details, and you can also visit wsjusa.com for more information.
