Lance Armstrong & Alberto Contador to Meet on the Chairlift

Three weeks of silence and canned answers ended for Alberto Contador.  The now two-time winner of the Tour de France let loose what he’d been wanting to let loose for a while now.

“My relationship with Lance is zero.  He is a great rider and had completed a great race, but it is another thing on a personal level, where I never had great admiration for him and I never will,” said Contador at a news conference.

Lance Armstrong responded via Twitter: “Seeing these comments from AC. If I were him I’d drop this drivel and start thanking his team. w/o them, he doesn’t win.”

All this just really adds to the drama leading up to next year’s Tour de France, where the two Astana teammates will be riding for separate teams and trying to jam their bike pumps down the other guy’s throat.

Armstrong has formed Team RadioShack, not to sell RCA to 1/4″ adapters, but to lead a team of his own in next year’s tours.

In the meantime, it’s time to put Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador on a chairlift to hash out their issues.  For this we’ve chosen Chair 2, the Edelweiss chair at Snoqualmie in Washington.  It’s a slow, beautiful ride on a historical chair servicing some fantastic steep stuff.  Work it out boys!
