The Risks of Texting While Driving, Walking, and Skiing

A new study released today by Virginia Tech University found drivers who text behind the wheel are 23 times more likely to wreck.  Another study done by University of Utah had similar findings, albeit its study of strictly college drivers revealed an 8 times more likely rate.  Hey 23 or 8, the point is that you text, you crash.

We’ve all seen the new breed of human walking down the street, head bowed, thumbs furiously typing away.  Gadget distraction has made many a teenage human into a walking zombie.  A couple weeks ago, Alexa Longueira fell into an open manhole while typing her endless streams of lol, nfw, :), and omg.  Texting while walking is a danger to bicyclists, other pedestrians, and as Miss Longueira proved, yourself.  She should have been afk.

Thankfully up on the slopes, texting is completely safe, as the only texting I see is on the chairlift; and a chairlift is a chauffeured ride.  So text away on the chairlift, if you must, but ditch the texting while walking and especially driving.  The life you save could be mine!
