Cash for Clunkers to be Suspended!

Attention to those looking to get your hands on those big rebates for your gas-guzzling SUV, or in my case, a 1992 Ford Explorer with 250,000 miles on it.  The goverment just announced the “Cash for Clunkers” program will be suspended amid concerns of how much of the $1 billion is left in the budget for consumers that trade in their piece-o-craps for new, fuel-efficient ones.  As is often the case with big government programs, there’s a backlog in accounting.  Baily Wood, a spokesman for the National Automobile Dealers Association said, ”There’s a significant backlog of ‘cash for clunkers’ deals that make us question how much funding is still available in the program.”

Time to put an ad out for about a thousand interns to crunch the numbers.
