SEC May Outlaw Flash Trading

Mountain enthusiasts tend to be a balanced bunch, many of substantial means, and most in favor of things being free: animals, sunshine and of course financial markets.    Flash trading is where stock trades are first funnelled through a private pool  of the company in which the transaction was placed, then if the trade is not fulfilled sends it to the firms best customers and only then sends the trade to the bigger market.  That’s a lot of steps where traders and insiders can gain information and a large advantage over others in the market.  It’s kind of like letting a bunch of your friends head up the mountain and have them promise to call and tell you where the best powder is… not likely to work out in your favor.  Fair markets are safer markets and mean more people have the chance to enjoy themselves in the mountains and that’s better for everyone.
