The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s Central Cross Country Ski Association (CXC) was recently awarded a large grant from the 2009 Olympic Opportunity Fund, which will help support their new adaptive cross country skiing program.
The CXC, based in Madison, WI, was one of several Paralympic Sports Clubs and USOC Paralympic member organizations throughout the country included in the Olympic Opportunity Fund program this year

“The program, although still in its infancy, is groundbreaking for the sport,” U.S. Adaptive Program Director Sandy Metzger said. “This is a great opportunity to identify and recruit new athletes to the sport and put them into the development pipeline.”

The new funding will also help raise awareness for adaptive skiers around the globe. Of course, the ripples are greatest locally. The CXC will also partner with regional clubs and ski areas
