Sarah Palin Accuses Obama of Murder (in the Future)

Health care reform, how do you feel about it?  (this is me listening to you)

See, listening, it’s not such a difficult thing to do.  Unfortunately, it appears most of us are incapable of listening and rational discourse.  As humans, our weakness is emotion.  Why do you think folks say you should calm down before making a decision.  Emotion does not allow for reasoned thinking.

The health care reform conversation has turned into one giant ball of hyper-emotion.  The rhetoric that feeds this unthinking was ratcheted up by Sarah Palin today.  With words like “evil” and saying Obama’s “death panel” would kill her down syndrome baby, Palin continues the practice of feeding emotion to the detriment of constructive dialogue.

The world is not black and white, and issues such as health reform are actually complex!  But, a religious perspective often divides the world into “good” and “evil”.  It is indeed much easier to digest the complexity of our world by simplifiying everything into one of two categories.  Unfortunately, as with any complex issue, it certainly does not contribute to a real solution.

Sarah Palin, a champion to some, a simpleton to me.
