Telluride ski resort frequenter, Oprah Winfrey is being sued for a comical ammount.  It doesn’t even sound real, but yes, one TRILLION dollars.  That’s $1,000,000,000.

Author Damon Lloyd Goffe, in a lawsuit filed in the District of Columbia Court, accuses Oprah of plagiarising his book A Tome of Poetry.  Oprah turned it into Pieces of My Soul, allegedly.

Goffe’s math to get to the one trillion goes like this:

Pieces of my Soul sold 650 million copies for $20 each, 650,000,000 x 20 = 1,200,000,000.

Maybe not pocket change for Oprah, but she did sell her Oxygen Network to NBC for $970 million in 1997.

Goffe to Oprah: You owe me $1.2 trillion.

Oprah to Goffe: Would you like that in cash?
