Ski Your Brains Out!

The U.S. Geological Survey has posted more findings from an ongoing study of three glaciers in the United States. The study focuses on the South Cascade glacier in Washington, and the Wolverine and Gulcana glaciers in Alaska. These three glaciers are strong benchmarks for glacial health worldwide, and the news isn’t pretty. The glaciers are retreating faster than previously thought, ushering in an announcement of a warmer global climate.

If you love winter like we do, this news is bad medicine. So, what now? We suggest you quit smoking, recycle, drive a hybrid (or ride your bike), eat local produce, become a vegan, go solar at home (and wind), demand there are no new coal electrical plants built (choose nuclear, yes nuclear!) and SKI YOUR BRAINS OUT! (while you can). Go to your local peak and ski, get to the Rockies or New England and soak it in. Sprint to Oregon to slide on a glacier. Visit Alaska for that dream heli ski / snowboard trip ( visit Sarah Palin and tell her she’s a quitter!). Enjoy the winters you have and help ensure enough pow for our kids, and their kids, and so on.
