Lance Armstrong Ski Tour of 1957

Back in July, The Ski Channel followed Lance Armstrong on the Tour de France of Ski, checking out cool and interesting ski areas along the route of the 96th Tour de France.  Following Lance we journeyed through the Pyrenees of southern France, the small, but beautiful ski hills of Alsace, and the big, bad mountains of the Alps.

Checking this advertisement for the 1957 Tour de France, our ski journey with Lance Armstrong would have been much more extensive.  Although Lance Armstrong wasn’t born until 1971, so it would have been the Jacques Anquetil and the Tour de France of Ski.  Anquetil was the winner of the 1957 tour, and four other tours.  Yep, five career Tour de France wins for Anquetil.

Super interesting route on the ’57 tour, with the riders touring much more of France in the Tour de France, hitting places like Normandy.
