Tiger Woods Not to be Fined for PGA Remarks

According to a section of the PGA Tour handbook, “It’s an obligation of membership to refrain from comments to the news media that unreasonably attack or disparage tournaments, sponsors, fellow members, players or PGA Tour.”

Apparently, according to purists, Tiger Woods violated that rule when he made a few comments regarding European Tour chief referee John Paramor. The golf legend was annoyed that he and Padraig Harrington were put on the clock, and felt that Harrington missed some shots due to the time pressures.

“It certainly influenced us in how we played and influenced the outcome of a tournament,” Woods told the AP regarding the timing.

While the PGA Tour does not publicly disclose penalty fines, spokesman Ty Votaw confirmed that Woods has not been fined.

“Tiger’s comments related to the impact of the decision,” Votaw told the AP. “We did not read them as being an unreasonable attack or disparaging.”
