Women’s Ski Jumpers Suing Olympics Get Appeal Date

Lindsey Vann and the Vannettes will now have their day in court on November 12, a full 90 days in front of the Olympic Games in the Brittish Columbia Court of Appeals.  The girls who fly through the air just as far as the guys and in some instances …farther – have sued VANOC (Vancouver Olympic Games Organizing Committee) on the basis that VANOC is violating the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which bans gender discrimination.

There have been rumors floating that someone on the defendents side had said that one of the reasons women shouldn’t jump was because it might be bad for their reproductive organs.  We are hoping that comes out as it would certainly get some great Leno and Conan publicity.

If I’m stacking the impact to the male genitalia versus the female – I’m going with the women having a better deal on reproductive organ safety.

Women’s Ski Jumping is the only Winter Sport that is not offered to both men and women.
