Brad Pitt Running for Mayor of New Orleans?

There have been a lot of rumors swirling around about Brad Pitt and the possibility of him running for mayor of New Orleans. Pitt, who’s had a huge hand in helping the city recover from damage caused by Hurricane Katrina is a huge favorite among locals, and we’re not just talking about his lovely wife, Angelina Jolie.

Pitt’s charity, the Make it Right Foundation, focuses on rebuilding homes hardest hit by Katrina, in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans. Benjamin Button’s goal? 150 new homes built by the end of next year.

Pitt appeared on the Today show this morning in an exclusive interview with Ann Curry. When asked whether or not he’d run for mayor, the actor said, “Yeah,” a few times before deadpanning, “I’m running on the gay marriage, no religion and legalization and taxation of marijuana platform…I don’t have a chance.”

Curry (and everyone else tuned in this morning) clearly didn’t hear Pitt say, “No,” so she asked again. But alas, the actor reiterated that he felt he didn’t stand a chance. Still, you can purchase a “Brad Pitt for Mayor” T-shirt for $20 at www.bradpittformayor.org. They’re navy blue, and actually look almost as cool as Mr. Pitt himself.
