Fall Football Perfect Transition to Winter Skiing

You know why August rocks? Because college football teams are preparing to do battle this fall, because fall is right around the corner, and because watching college football is the perfect transition to get me from summer to winter for the start of a new ski season. And I’m not just saying this because Ohio State will win the national title, that’s just part of the fun.

I love the fall, it broadcasts a change. A change from hot to cold, from long summer nights to cold winter nights, and ultimately, from mountain bikes to skis. And sandwiched in between, when not watching The Ski Channel, we get to witness the NCAA Football parade. I love it! I get see Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and all the rest battle it out every week as we hurtle toward first snow. I love collage football as a part of our culture second only to the love of skiing as a part of our culture, and I’m not just saying that because Ohio State will win the national Championship.

So as August gives way to September, as summer gives way to fall, and as we watch the football parade while we anticipate the upcoming ski season, hopefully I’ll be in a ski town somewhere, giving my legs a rest, so I can watch Ohio State win another national championship. If not, no worries, it’s winter and I’m skiing!
