Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso Report From New Zealand

Both World Champion Red Bull athlete Lindsey Vonn and Olympic gold medalist Julia Mancuso have been blogging on their Web sites about their training in New Zealand. Vonn reports that she’s happy with the way things have been going. “It’s great to be back in this beautiful country,” she writes. “I just finished my first few days on snow and everything felt great.”

Vonn also wrote about teammate Cody Marshall, who’s been making a truly stellar recovery, and encouraged her fans to visit Marshall’s blog (www.thinkcody.com), to send him some encouraging words.

For her part, Mancuso is also happy to be at Coronet Peak. “We are having tons of fun,” writes Mancuso. “The skiing is awesome… I even got to ski powder the other day.”

Mancuso also reported that she and her teammates have been slacklining—a relatively new sport trend that involves walking a semi-tight rope. (It’s called a ‘slack’ line for a reason.) The off-snow workout is actually excellent for dry-land training, as it hones core strength and balance.

Word is it’s been raining lately down under, but both lady racing phenoms seem undeterred. Both Champions are simply looking ahead to the imminent season, not to mention the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
