Early Reports Show Tom DeLay Most Likely to Be First Voted Off Dancing With the Stars: Snowboarder Louie Vito Predicted to Last

Comments have been flooding the Web today after ABC announced the new Dancing With the Stars cast for season 9. Most fans are unhappy with the selection of Tom DeLay, the former House Majority Leader who was indicted on conspiracy allegations despite his public denial of any law violations. In fact, not only are fans disappointed by DeLay’s DWTS inclusion, most predict that he will be the first to leave, no matter how wonderful his dancing skills.

Let’s not forget that viewer votes push contestants along toward the coveted crystal disco globe. And if anyone will be popular with viewers, it’s likely to be U.S. Team Snowboard Rider, Louie Vito.

For starters, the guy is likeable. The professional snowboarder is an at-ease goofball who’s quick with a smile and joke. Vito is also favored to qualify for the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver for the snowboard half-pipe event, which naturally helps boost his viewer fan base. Everyone wants to see our Olympians succeed. (We wonder if ABC is banking on getting Vito’s own large fan base to watch DWTS, more than the other way around.)

Reports are already circulating around the Web that Vito—and these are pundit quotes—”…is the one to watch this season.” Forget the fact that the DWTS cast is loaded with other star athletes, like Olympic gold medalist Natalie Coughlin and former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin. Vito grew up in the Midwest and managed to become the overall U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix Champion. We’re going to join in and bet on Louie Louie.

Dancing With the Stars airs September 21 on ABC.
