Own a Washington Ski Cabin for $10

WSDOT (long hand version = Washington State Department of Transportation) is auctioning off 22 cabins and a wood lodge on August 19th.  Bids start at just 10 bucks for the cabins and 100 bucks for the lodge.  All within a rock throw of the Mt. Baker ski area.

Sounds great, right?  Your own home for the cost of two six inch sandwiches.  But, as the old adage says, if it sounds too good to be true…

Basically what’s going on here is WSDOT is tearing down an outdated bridge over Gallup Creek to build a new, bigger bridge.  WSDOT purchased the surrounding structures next to the bridge, including the Glacier Creek Lodge and all its cabins.  Once you buy the cabins at auction, you’ll have until September 30th to remove the cabins from the property.

Here are the keys to your new home, now get the hell out of here!
