First Rossland Fat Tire Mountain Bike Festival

Labor Day Weekend rapidly approaches.  Going to be near Red Mountain over this holiday weekend?  Even if you weren’t planning on it, maybe you should.   Red is only a ten minute drive north of the Canada/US Border, a 2.5 hour drive from Spokane International Airport, and a 3.5 hour drive from Kelowna International Airport. Rossland, BC is a well respected mountain bike destination, making Rossland the perfect host of the first annual Rossland Fat Tire Festival.

On September 5th & 6th the weekend festivies begin!  Register to participate in the Dreadhead All-Mountain Challenge, Huck-en Berry Bike Jam and annual Seven Summits Poker Ride.  Feel free to register for one, two, or all three events by calling Revolution Cycles at (250) 362-5688.  Deanne Steven, Executive Director of Tourism Rossland said Rossland’s trails continue “drawing people from all over the world!”.  Compete to demonstrate your passion for the mountain lifestyle and to possibly become the next “all-mountain” champion.

There will also be prizes for costumes and more at various points along the trails.  Participants and volunteers are invited to close the Fat Tire Festival at the Lions Campground with food, drink and a game of poker.

Labor Day acts as nature’s little reminder the snow season will soon be here.  Don’t forget about Red Mountain this winter!  Then again, how could you forget a resort that has been named one of the skiing/best-downhill-skiing-story.html” target=”_blank”>Top Ten Resorts of North America by Forbes?  With 87 runs, good luck picking your favorite.  The Ski Channel challenges you to try each one, and fill us in after!
