It was a day for Super G.  Perhaps it should have been a day for kite skiing.  With 50-mile-an-hour winds pounding Coronet Peak, rebel skier Jake Zamansky continued his incredible and improbable resurrection, winning the New Zealand Winter Games Super G.

“It was awesome, not too rounded and the conditions were great,” said an excited Zamansky.

Zamansky, who had to fight his way back onto the U.S. team after being dropped last year, beat an impressive field of racers.  This was not a World Cup stacked field, but there were indeed some big boys racing in New Zealand.  That included Felix Neureuther of Germany, who has five World Cup podiums to his name.  Neureuther finished second, and Jenot Olivier of Monaco.
