U.S. Team Snowboarder Louie Vito Paired with Chelsie Hightower on DWTS

It’s official. U.S. Team Snowboarder Louie Vito actually has a decent chance for success on Dancing with the Stars. The pairings have been announced, and Vito is set to dance with Chelsie Hightower, a powerhouse with excellent teaching skills. The pair has already been practicing together, and apparently they’re getting along famously.

Last season, Hightower was paired with Ty Murray, another athlete  (rodeo star) with no dancing experience (or flair). But somehow Hightower transformed Mr. Jewel into a master over his own feet. (Seriously, Murray got smooth!)

Vito and Hightower could actually be a perfect match. The two hail from Utah (Vito resides in Salt Lake City and Hightower grew up in Orem), both are young (Hightower is 20 to Vito’s 21) and both extremely competitive (the pair have both won National Championships in their respective ‘disciplines,’ not to mention big events like the X-Games and So You Think You Can Dance).

Being the Ski Channel, we’re more interested in how Vito scores in the Cypress Mountain half-pipe at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver than how he fares on the dance floor, but we’ll still root him on toward that tacky crystal disco ball. Either way, Vito’s pre-Olympic training will surely be fun to watch.
