Jaycee Lee Dugard’s life since she was abducted was anything but normal and was definitely difficult.  However, according to experts, the road ahead for this Lake Tahoe woman, who was held captive in a backyard compound and was allegedly sexually assaulted by her captor, Phillip Garrido, could be very difficult and trying.  Dugard is now 29 and has lived the last 18 years in captivity; and, according to child psychiatrist Dr. Kerry Landry, she faces a challenging road to recovery.  ”They can really feel like they have no control and there is no escape,” Landry says.  Aside from the physical abuse that Dugard endured in the backyard that was less than 200 miles from her ski resort town of South Lake Tahoe, experts say that abused children are also mentally manipulated.  According to Landry, the most important step for Dugard is to get connected with a mental health professional, to reinforce to her that what happened to her was not her fault.
