South Lake Tahoe resident Jaycee Lee Dugard has been through quite an ordeal, as she was kidnapped over 18 years ago while walking to her bus stop, and was then held captive in a backyard compound that was less than 200 miles from her town that’s known for its ski resorts. She gave birth to two daughters during her captivity, and her alleged kidnapper, Phillip Garrido, is said to be the father of the two children.  Following her release this past week, many experts are saying that the coming days could even be more difficult for Dugard as she adjusts to the world she hasn’t been a part of for the last 18 years.

In addition, she may suffer from Stockholm syndrome, where she might actually miss her captors, since they have been the center of her world for the past 18 years, says forensic psychiatrist Helen Morrison told CNN.  ”The only reality she has is the life that she’s lived.  So she has to be overwhelmed,” Morrison says.
