Alaska to Get More HeliSkiing

Leaders in Haines Alaska, home to companies including the famed Alaska Heliskiing, are considering a plan to relax regulations on commercial helicopter and heliskiing activities.  Although the town government cannot officially regulate the airspace, in 2005 it designated flight path rules that are a requirement to getting a permit to operate in Haines.  Under that law, the heliski industry was capped to 1000 skier days (one day of skiing for one skier) between Feb 1st and May 3rd.  Operators hope an elimination of the restriction is coming and we agree because more skiing is better.
