Beat the Heat this Summer with SWEET Deals on Season Passes and Gear

If the summer heat is getting to you, use the coming Labor Day Weekend to check out ski bargains at your local ski store, snatch up season passes, and get stoked for the coming ski season! Yes it is still summer in the states, but most skiers and boarders know Labor Day weekend is the normal ski season kick-off for preseason deals on season passes and last year’s gear. Many retailers will offer steep discounts on gear and lift tickets because sales last year were significantly lower than industry average. Industry researchers insist summer is definitely the best time to drop some cash for high-end gear and boots. Industry forecasters predict fatter skis and reverse camber rocker snowboards (basically built in the shape of a banana) will be the big ticket items this season.

Season passes are also a great investment if you hit the slopes at least several days a year. If you buy passes in the next few weeks, most resorts offer significant discounts. Kirkwood Mountain Resort in Lake Tahoe is selling the adult 6Wood season pass for $239 (valid Sunday through Friday, nonholiday), the 7wood pass for $369 (valid all week except holidays) and the unlimited pass for $529. Students, wee ones and seniors can get even steeper discounts, so be sure to check those out! But don’t procrastinate, just do it! Prices are predicted to increase in November and once more in December.

Also check out the Ski Lake Tahoe Six-Pack now on sales for $269. The passes allow six days of skiing or boarding at various resorts. To maximize variety and cost benefits, based on last years’ pricing, hit up Heavenly twice, Kirkwood once, Northstar once, and Squaw twice.
