Katie Callaway Hall somewhat knows what South Lake Tahoe resident Jaycee Lee Dugard is going through.  That is because she was Phillip Garrido’s first kidnapping victim nearly 33 years ago.  Hall told CNN she trembled and “started screaming ‘Oh my god, Oh my god, it’s him’ upon hearing of Garrido’s arrest for allegedly kidnapping and raping the girl who was walking to the bus stop in her ski resort town when Garrido took her over 18 years ago.  Hall says she has thought about Garrido ever day since November 22, 1976, when he asked her for a ride but eventually handcuffed her and took her to a mini-warehouse in Reno, Nevada, where he raped her.

Garrido was convicted of kidnapping and raping Hall, but was released after serving 10 years of a 50-year sentence.  Hall wrote for a CNN blog and said that the arrest has helped “close a chapter of her life” and she does not “have to live
