If you’ve been hankering to get out into the fluffy white stuff, and ANYTHING will do, check out learnasnowsport.org. The organization can help you get started doing anything on snow—whether it’s skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing or snowboarding.

The group has named January as Learn a Snow Sport Month, to highlight their public awareness campaign. In January, resorts will offer special learning programs for newbies and experts alike. In 2009, 200 resorts in 22 states participated and more are expected to take part in 2010. Last season, Learn a Snow Sport Month attracted 20,000 children and adults to learning programs through the annual Winter Trails program.

Some learning programs are free while some require a reasonable fee. The fee is determined by the resort or Nordic center offering the learning experience. For more information, check for new postings starting November 1st.
