Firefighters Return to Mt. Wilson Amid Hopeful News

The monstrous and unstable Station Fire, which has burned at least 122,000 acres throughout the Angeles National Forest, looks to be losing strength today, as the humidity is up and temperatures are down. Yesterday, no one was allowed to access Mt. Wilson–including firefighters. As of today, the brave fighters of flame were allowed by the authorities to return to Wilson to continue fighting the blaze from there. This is a good sign. It means that the threat facing the communications tower has been lowered, and with the firefighters actually there battling the inferno, they have a better chance of eliminating the threat entirely. While the fire is still technically only 5% contained, officials expect that number to increase drastically today. Let’s hope the worst is over, no other homes are lost, and no other heroic firefighters have to lose their lives.
