Today, the International Ski Federation (FIS) announced its petition for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to approve the inclusion of the women’s ski jump in the 2014 Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi, Russia.

The IOC promised to keep an open mind after rejecting the petition for women’s ski jumping in the upcoming Vancouver Winter Olympics. However, Jacques Rogge the IOC President has since approved the participation of ladies in the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck.

We’ll have to wait and see what the IOC decides regarding Sochi, Russia. All of us here at The Ski Channel certainly hope the committee lets the women compete!
