So Cal Fires Seem To Be Getting Contained, Ski Resorts Did OK Except For One

The LA fires are seemingly about 50% contained at this point in time, but the damage turned most of the wonderful Los Angeles playground into a desolate wasteland.  Although the 1000′s of structures that were contemplated being lost were mostly saved, the damage done to the wilderness is beyond logic.  Approximately 25% of the mountains burned.

The ski resorts and ski areas were sparred, but the Rim Nordic Ski Area was definately impacted and the road leading up to Rim Nordic could be closed for some time.  Flames came very close to the ski area.  “The fire took out so much plantlife that held most of these mountainsides together.  You are going to see a lot of landslides, big rocks falling down and some road collapes,” said one resident near the Rim Nordic Ski Area.

Mt. Baldy and Mt. Waterman both seemed to have bypassed the wrath.  Mountain High as well.  Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are further away and were sparred.

After the fires are completely contained, there will be substantial road closings that will definately have an impact on all the areas for some skiers and snowboarders.
