We’re Running Out of Water!

Well, drinking water, that is. After a long day on the slopes on your skis or snowboard, it’s important to re-hydrate. Well, it’s kind of important to drink water in general. So, when I heard Segway inventor Dean Kamen say that ““In your lifetime, my lifetime, we will see water be a really scarce, valuable commodity”, I freaked out. It’s a good thing he’s been working for the past 10 years on a machine called The Slingshot that can turn any liquid with water in it into delicious, pure drinking water. That includes sewage, urine and ocean water. The only problem with The Slingshot is that it costs several hundred grand to make each one. Kamen is working on building it cheaper, and that would be key. If this invention pans out, it will be able to turn 97% of the world’s undrinkable water into pure, clear, potable h20.
