Ski Resort Sued Over Skiing Couples Incompetence

As I was cruising one of my favorite websites, the adventure life by Steve Casimiro, I read a story that just irked me. Apparently, a husband and wife were skiing at Snowshoe Ski Resort in West Virginia when the husband was hurt skiing terrain beyond his skill level. The couple is claiming that the resort compelled them to try skiing the challenging terrain with their “Adrenaline Junkie” marketing of a specific area of the resort.

Just to be clear, the area of contention is clearly marked as black and double black runs and is well marked. The couple did not wonder on to this terrain by accident, but chose to test themselves and are now mounting a stupefying lawsuit. What happened to people taking responsibility for their own actions. I ski a lot, and I have never found the slope difficulty rating system difficult to understand or unclear in how well each trail is marked. A five year old can make their way around a mountain without ever getting on a slope over their head. Perhaps the couple will sue the ski manufacturers for equipping them to ski in the first place, and the US Government for not removing the hazardous mountains that are lying around all over the county. There is a whole industry built around using the law to turn stupidity into personal gain, and it hurts us all.
