Get Off the Road! X-Terra in Utah Sept. 26

The X-Terra USA Championships will take place next weekend on September 26 at Snowbasin. The final event of 50 held across the U.S., the Championships will feature an $80,000 prize purse, $60K of which will be used for the overall Tour Championship, with the rest going to the fastest pro’s at the Nationals. Top finishers will also secure a slot to the World Championships, held in Maui.

Athletes will swim 1.5K, mountain bike 30 miles, and then run another 10K. And since the event will be held in Utah, the competitors will have to tackle rough and tumble terrain.

For regular Joes and Janes, X-Terra will hold mellower races. The X-Terra Utah Off-road Triathlon is similar to the Championship, but with half the distance (on each segment). On September 25, there’s even a race for dogs. Pretty ruff. (Sorry, we couldn’t resist.)

Spectators also won’t be left out. X-Terra event sponsor Paul Mitchell will be holding a Cut-a-Thon in Ogden on the 25th and at Snowbasin on the 26th. The do’s are free, but $15 donations are requested.
