It’s official: Bode is back!

Miller announced today from the Staples Center in Los Angeles that he plans to gun for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver and return to the Audi FIS World Cup Tour. Not only that, but Miller is once again joining the U.S. Ski Team. (Miller had skied on his own as part of his self-titled Team America.)

“This is an exciting day for the U.S. Ski Team and an exciting day for ski racing,” said Tom Kelly, Director of Communications for USSA.

“The summer was a great time to reflect, and a great time to take a break and figure out where I was at,” Miller said. “Once I touched base with Sasha (Team coach) a few weeks ago, I felt like I was in the right place to figure out where I was going. Sasha was positive about reintegrating me into the Team and it was kind of a no brainer. We got more and more excited about doing things together.”

Miller also noted that walking away for a few months had its drawbacks, but didn’t seem too worried.

“Coming into the season in not the best shape is not the best position to be in, but we have room to improve,” Miller said, likening himself to NFL legend Brett Favre.

“We have a great team, lots of young guys,” said U.S. Ski Team Head Coach Sasha Rearick. “We have Ted Ligety, Marco Sullivan, Steven Nyman… We’ve worked hard to come together as a tight family and to have Bode come back to the family is extremely exciting for us. He has tremendous speed in Super G, GS, Downhill and Slalom and to have that kind of speed will help out everybody.”

“Bode has been inspirational to all of us,” Rearick continued. “He’s pushed the sport. I also think that the FIS World Cup is fortunate to have Bode coming back. He’s got a huge fan base and we’re all looking forward to having him come back as part of the World Cup.”
