Les Arcs want to give you a skiing soundtrack with Mountainpod

While it might not be considered the safest practice, many skiers are prone to taking mp3 players to the slopes so that they might listen to their favorite tunes while skiing.  Les Arcs in Savoie, France has launched a revolutionary new audio companion service in Mountainpod.  Visitors to the resort are invited to download one or all of ten free tracks to accompany them around the mountain.  Throughout Les Arcs’s ski domain, patrons will pass “bright fuchsia signs” that indicate which of the ten available tracks the resorts would like you to listen to.

Each track tells the listener of their current elevation, the close places to grab some grub, and even suggests which runs might be of interest to the listener based on their skills.  Hopefully a few resorts here in the Good ol’ US of A will take note and implement a Mountainpod system of their own.

Download your mountain soundtrack at Mountainpod.
