Alleged kidnapper of Lake Tahoe girl helped with child safety advocacy

In a story that is now very ironic, alleged kidnapper Phillip Garrido helped a local woman in Antioch, Califronia with fliers on child safety.  Janice Gomes said she met Garrido when he was passing out filers for his printing business, and when she needed fliers printed for her safety awareness nonprofit organization, she reached out to Garrido.  In addition to printing them, Garrido also offered suggestions, Gomes said.  ”He said, ‘Children should never walk to bus stops by themselves, because they are no match for adults.’”

This comment is now very chillingly ironic, as Garrido is charged with kidnapping South Lake Tahoe girl Jaycee Lee Dugard while she was walking to her bus stop.  In addition, Gomes said she met Dugard, who Garrido referred to as his daughter, as she handled printing the fliers out.
