Clifton Maloney an avid climber, millionaire investment banker and husband of US Representative Carolyn Maloney died of yet unknown cause after successfully ascending the 6th highest peak in the world.

Officials are currently trying to recover the body from slopes of Cho Oyu, a 26,906-foot peak that straddles the border of Nepal and Tibet. Maloney had rested overnight at a camp at 23,000 feet after reaching the peak with professional climbing partner Marty Schmidt.  It is unclear at this time if they were on the Nepalese or Tibetan side of the mountain.

Maloney is the oldest man to reach the summit of Cho Oyu and has run the New York City Marathon 20 times.  He is survived by his wife Carolyn and two daughters.
