Snowboarder Louie Vito in the middle of the pack on Dancing With the Stars

It’s the second week of Dancing With the Stars, and U.S. Team Snowboarder Louie Vito needs your votes. With guest judge Baz Luhrmann (director of Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet and of course, Strictly Ballroom) on the sidelines of the dance floor, Vito scored a respectable 19. The score, however, sets him right in the middle of the pack, with the likes of Kelly Osbourne and fighter Chuck Liddell.

Thing is, we think Vito’s got it going on, and that he’s due to rise above the middle ranks. Last night the half-pipe rider threw a huge backflip over partner Chelsie Hightower. We’re surprised the judges didn’t score his Olympic-quality jive higher. DWTS judge Carrie Ann noted how she loved how Vito shows “so much joy,” while dancing, and Bruno commented on how Vito has more in him. Only the oft-frowning Len has delivered anything remotely negative towards Vito, when last week he dissed Vito’s hair. (Vito later blogged about keeping his long locks for People.com.)

The results show airs tonight at 9/8C on ABC, and the third dancing pair will be eliminated. Fingers crossed for Louie!
