Weird places to ski – Iran

Yup they’ve got a gondola and they are members of the International Ski Federation.  Mammoth, Crested Butte, Vail…no hows about Dizin, Iran?  Yup, there’s a ski resort there.  And, supposedly it is a great place to ski with a lot of snow.  After an avalanche killed three German’s, the Shah of Iran banned skiing, but now it’s cool and there are 5 or 6 places to ski.

1930 saw the first Iranian bombers (as in courdoroy hounds) a little less than 100 years after others in region started doing it.  Supposedly a lot of students are into skiing and snowboarding there now.  No word on whether they are into Salomon’s or K-2′s.

Back at you later with some other interesting places.
