Changes made to Nations Team Event for Alpine World Cup Finals

The FIS Alpine Committee recently conducted a review of the Alpine World Cup Finals and proposed a one-time test of a team parallel race format for the Nations Team Event at the 2010 Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Finals in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER). Usually the race involves athletes skiing as normal, against the clock.

The night slalom invitational event in Moscow also uses a parallel format, and proves to be a crowd pleaser. (The FIS took TV viewership into consideration when proposing the new format for the Nations Team Event.) Time will tell if the parallel idea sticks.
