Ski in California and Colorado this weekend

Christmas has come early this year folks! So has Chanukah, Kwanza and Festivus for that matter. In addition to the opening of Loveland Ski Area in Colorado, this weekend kicks off the 2009-2010 ski season with the opening of the Arapahoe Basin ski area on Friday at 9 in the AM. The area’s earliest opening in history! No beginners allowed here guys. Leigh Heirholzer, Arapahoe Basin spokesperson commented: “A-Basin congratulates Loveland Ski Area for being the first ski area to open in North America when it opens tomorrow. It’s nice to see our neighbor take the crown this year, but we will be back in the race for the 2010-11 ski season.”

But wait, that’s not all!

Do I hear California in the house?! (How could The Ski Channel let someone as cool as me work here?)

Boreal Mountain Resort in Truckee, CA is also set to open this weekend, with the opening of the Castle Peak Quad chairlift. This will also mark Boreal’s earliest opening in history. For right now, it’ll only be open Friday through Sunday, but that will change as the season progresses.

Hurrah! Huzzah! Hit the slopes people!!
