Skiing’s best of the rest resort awards

Skiing magazine’s 2010 resort awards are highlighted in the October issue. So what’s new? Well, we already know that Whistler won the best overall resort and that Jackson Hole has the best steeps and that Alta has the best snow. Thus we won’t bore you with same old fluff. Let’s look at the best of the rest awards that Skiing has conjured up and add some spice to your next ski vacation. Who knows, you may actually plan a trip because you just have to have the best meat-infused cocktail. Here we go…

Best Meat-Infused Cocktail: Meat & Potato Martini at Wolfrock in Keystone, Colorado. It actually contains vodka, pork sausage and is   served in a  martini glass.

Best Souvenir: Maple Syrup at Mad River Glen, Vermont

Best Bar: Matterhorn Ski Bar in Sunday River, Maine

Best No-Fall Zone: Silver City, Sunshine VIllage, Alberta

Most Condescending Locals: Jacskson Hole, Wyoming

Friendliest Locals: Turner Mountain, Montana

Best Cheap Digs: Abominable Snowmansion in Taos, New Mexico. Only a 15 minute drive from Taos and $22 a night for a bunk bed.

Best Park: Breckenridge, Colorado

Best Reason to Speak a Foreign Language: Hokkaido, Japan

Most Underrated Mountain: Mount Rose, Nevada. Yep just had to plug one of the hidden gem favorites.
