For the skier who likes to ski all over the mountain and only plans on buying one pair of skis this season, consider the five models below. These skis carve up the slopes well and float through powder with ease. They cut through the ice, crud, man-made, groomed or wind blown snow.

The skis on this list are packaged with bindings in case you’re wondering about the sub $1000 prices. We shopped these deals out on We recommend you sign up for their membership and take advantage of the discount. For the budget conscious there’s the Rossignol Avenger 82 and Atomic Blackeye Ti for $799. On the high end of the scale are the Volkl Unlimited AC50 and Salomon X-Wing Tornado Ti for $999.

The K2 Apache Recon is the slimmest of the pack at 119-78-105 for easy turning in the bumps, crud, and chopped up powder.

Those on the weight watchers plan can have the Atomic Blackeye Ti. At 12.8 pounds (171 cm) in weight including bindings, it’s the lightest in the group making them easily maneuverable. The beefiest ski that also has the widest waist in the bunch is the Volkl Unlimited AC50. It comes in at 15.7 pounds with a 85mm waist giving the skier a more stable ride.
